Ranchi: After nine years; judgment in minor’s rape and murder case scheduled for July 12

Ranchi, July 4: After nine years of investigation and trial, now the judgment in a minor’s rape and murder case has been scheduled to be delivered on July 12.

A POCSO court, which has examined as many as 22 witnesses including four Superintendents of Police and gone through brain mapping and Narco test report of the accused, will deliver the judgment.

The case arose on April 24, 2013, after an FIR was registered in this connection at Doranda police station in the city centre. The FIR was registered a day after a seven-year-old girl, Pari (name changed), was murdered.

Police ascertained the accused after about 7 years after the incident. It named Mohammad Sahid Akhtar and Sahajadi Khatoon, who are close relatives of the deceased, as accused.

The Jharkhand High Court had taken suo-moto cognizance in the matter and had directed to assign the responsibility of investigation to SPs.
