Ranchi: The Special CBI Court of Ranchi acquitted the then Ranchi General Manager of Food Corporation of India (FCI) G Karthikeyan and contractor Jugal Kishore from the charges of corruption due to lack of evidence.

The development took place in the court of Special CBI judge P Sharma after the completion of arguments from all sides in the case related to RC-4 A-15.

The then General Manager G Karthikeyan was accused of awarding the contract to Kishor Enterprises of Garhwa at a high price, ignoring companies participating in the tender at a low price.

It was alleged that due to the act of Karthikeyan, the government incurred a loss in tunes of millions. The CBI started the investigation in May 2015.

Several evidence and 11 witnesses were presented before the court by the CBI while the defense presented only 4 witnesses. 11 CBI witnesses could not prove the act of Karthikeyan beyond reasonable doubts.

Finally, the court acquitted both the accused. Civil Court advocates Shambhu Agarwal and Rohit Ranjan Prasad were defense lawyers in the case.
