Ranchi, Dec 14: A new AB scan machine was inaugurated at the CCL Gandhinagar hospital by Vimla Prasad, President Arpita Mahila Mandal. The AB scan machine is a great tool to detect disorders of the eye in presence of any lesion/deformity that obscures the visualisation of the eye structures through the use of optical instruments.
It utilises ultrasound waves to scan the eye, which is a non-invasive method of screening.
It is immensely useful for prompt diagnosis and management of dreaded diseases like Retinal Detachment, Choroidal Melanoma, and Retinoblastoma, especially when the back of the eye cannot be visualised in presence of opaque media, dense cataracts or corneal opacity.
