Ranchi: DSPMU to hire teachers for 22 vocational courses soon

Ranchi, Oct 21: Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University has announced its plans to hire teachers for 22 vocational courses soon. The officials have already begun the process of hiring. As per sources, teachers with NET and PhD degrees will be hired to teach regularly to the students enrolled in the 22 vocational courses taught here.

Sources at the university have claimed that a meeting between the Vocational Co-ordinator and the Vice Chancellor is on the calendar. The meeting will aim to prepare a framework for the regular studies of the students of vocational courses according to the NEP 2020.

AJSU student leaders stated, “At the moment contractual teachers are taking classes in vocational courses. However, the university administration took action in this direction after the uproar by various student organisations. Recently, student organizations also met the VC and demanded that the number of teachers in vocational courses increase and classes be arranged in a timely manner. The VC has assured us that everything will be normal soon.”

Furthermore, officials have also claimed that vocational courses are run in the university in a self-finance manner, even when posts of regular teachers have not been created yet. In such a situation, it can be estimated that the present condition of vocational courses in the university.

The vice chancellor Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya in this regard said, “An action plan has been prepared to conduct the vocational courses regularly. The teachers will be hired according to the fixed syllabus, while the honorarium will also be fixed. A report on the conditions of all departments will also be taken soon. Also, the number of classes necessary as per the syllabus will also be talked about soon.”

The VC further said that DSPMU is determined to provide quality education to the students. “We are constantly doing new experiments. Soon, a meeting with the coordinators will be set up so that teachers can be hired privately. Till now the posts of regular teachers have not been created, however, the teachers will be hired on the basis of a fixed syllabus and fixed honorarium. Here, teachers will take a set number of classes as decided by the department. They will also be given remuneration in case of extra classes on this basis. This pattern will continue till regular teachers are reinstated at the government level.
