Ranchi: ICFAI University organises panel discussion on career opportunities for BTech graduates

Ranchi, Aug 1: A panel discussion on career opportunities for BTech graduates over the next four years was organised online at ICFAI University, Jharkhand wherein senior managers of reputed companies like M&M, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Aditya Birla Group etc. explained the development in the market. They also advised the students on how to choose a career in engineering.

Welcoming the participants to the programme, Professor ORS Rao, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI University, said, “The rapid growth of the Indian economy, post-COVID-19, coupled with government initiatives like Make-in-India, will create huge opportunities for BTech graduates, especially in core engineering branches like Mechanical and Mining graduate in next four years.”

He further said, “The electrical vehicle sector alone is expected to create at least two lakh jobs for engineering graduates by 2026, as major automotive companies like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, M&M are expected to invest around Rs 80,000 crore in the next 3-4 years.”

 

 

“The objective of the panel discussion by industry experts is to create awareness about the job opportunities for fresh engineering graduates so that students and parents can make an appropriate decision by the students and their parents on how to choose the programme to proceed forward,” the VC added.

Industry stalwarts including Raju Rai, Consultant, Larsen & Toubro; Prof. SC Vishwakarma, Ex GM, CCL; Ashutosh Dugal, Head Customer Care, M&M- Electric Vehicles; K Vishweshwar AVP, Tech Mahindra; Niladri Das, MD Neeladvantage Technologies; Parthasarathi Mishra, Former Chief HR Manager, Tata Steel and Bijay Kumara, AGM HR Hindalco (Aditya Birla) addressing the students on the occasion.

Eminent academician, Dr G L Dutta, Former Dean, Department of Mechanical, IIT Kharagpur highlighted that due to the adoption of Industry 4.0 by the manufacturing industry, graduate engineers are being taught AI/ML, Block Chain, and Cloud with core disciplines like IoT.

He suggested that they acquire multi-disciplinary skills with a focus on the integration of the latest IT technologies like computing etc. Dr Datta, who is also a member of the Academic Council of the University, appreciated the ICFAI University for updating the curriculum to suit the needs of the industry.

All the industry speakers advised the students to pursue their passion through good career opportunities emerging in every field.

Dr Rajesh Kumar Prasad, Prof. Mithilesh K Mishra and Dr Abhay Kumar Sinha, HOD, Mechanical, Mining and HOD of CSE respectively explained how ICFAI University has incorporated the latest courses in its studies to prepare graduate students for the industry. All the HODs also explained the projects undertaken by the BTech students of the university in state-of-the-art technologies.
