Ranchi, Sept.28:  Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth suggested constructing a bridge over Kanke Dam to reduce traffic congestion in the city. He gave the suggestion while presiding over a meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee organized at the District Collectorate.

Seth said the bridge will be required at the time of construction of an elevated road connecting Ratu with Piska More. Other suggestions Seth gave included opening a cut near the garbage dump point at Jhiri, filling up the ditch on the service road leading to Ring road Ormanjhi.

Apart from this, Seth said that the left turn of all the square intersections of the capital will be made free. He also suggested shifting the wall of Ranchi University located at Shahid Chowk by 10 meters from the existing road and for this, he asked the authority to draft a proposal for its approval from the appropriate authority.

Seth during the meeting expressed his concern over the drugs being sold around educational institutions saying a check is required to be put on the sale of drugs. He said it causes accidents after students consume and start driving.

NHAI officials did not attend the second consecutive meeting of the Road Safety Committee.  On getting this information, the MP of Ranchi got furious.  He said that, in the light of the directions of the Supreme Court, a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee is to be held every three months.  But the authorities are not afraid of it.  “Within 48 hours, the concerned officials should give the compliance report, otherwise I will complain against them to the central government,” Seth added.
