Ranchi, Feb 7: Children from nursery to class VIII were called to school on Monday at Ursuline English Medium School in Muri, Ranchi. Children studied here via offline medium till regular school time.

During this, not only the orders of the government were flouted but also the Covid guidelines were not followed. Most of the children reached school without masks. No arrangement for social distancing was made by the school management. The children were even crammed in school cabs which brought the children to school.

Meanwhile, when asked in this regard, Block Development Officer (BDO) Pawan Ashish Lakra said that this is a violation of the order of the government. The Block Education Extension Officer (BEEO) has taken cognizance of the matter in Ursuline School. Action will be taken against the school management by registering a case for violation of disaster management rules under relevant sections of the Act.

The principal of the school, Sister Ava, has said that the children were called to the school to practice writing so that they can prepare for their annual exam. A circular was sent to the children to come to school with the consent of guardians. The school has been closed once again after the instructions from the Education Department.

As per orders given by the state government, educational institutions are to open for resuming classes above class 9 in seven districts including Ranchi. In view of the active cases of Coronavirus, the schools up to class 8 are to remain closed here. Along with this, instructions have also been given to follow all guidelines issued by the state and center regarding Covid-19. Masks and social distancing in schools are a must.
