Ranchi: People celebrate Jagannath Rath Yatra after two years

Governor Ramesh Bais and CM Hemant Soren offer prayers, seek prosperity of state from Lord Jagannath

Ranchi, July 1: After two years of pandemic, the historic chariot fair of Lord Jagannath was taken out with great pomp in the capital. Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the fair and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath on Friday.

The governor had reached the fair along with his family. Meanwhile, the chief minister with his two sons. Both offered prayers and prayed for the safety and prosperity of the people of the state. During this, many dignitaries including Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, Khijri MLA Rajesh Kachhap, former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahai, Congress spokesperson Alok Dubey were present.

Before the prayer service, the governor and the chief minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the entire state on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. Both prayed to Lord Jagannath to bestow happiness, prosperity and health in everyone’s life.

Addressing all the devotees present after worshiping Lord Jagannath, Governor Ramesh Bais said that the historic Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Mata Subhadra and Lord Balaram is taken out in Puri, just like it is in Ranchi. “It is a great pleasure to see this. Today, I got a chance to chant mantras in front of these three Gods,” the governor added. The governor further expressed his gratitude to all the pundits, the organisers of the chariot fair. He further said that he prayed to God that the state progress.

Meanwhile, devotees attended the fair amid heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon. The fair also marked the beginning of the ten-day celebration. Devotees were notably present at the fair in thousands for a chance to be able to pull the ropes of the rath carrying the Gods.
