Ranchi, Aug.17: Police arrested one more accused of CPI (M) leader Subhash Munda murder case. He is Kanhaiya Singh. There are as many as 24 cases registered against him in Khunti and Ranchi district. He was earlier sent to jail many times.
With this, the number of accused arrested in Munda murder case rose to four. Earlier, on August 4, the police had arrested three, including a Lalgutwa resident Chotu Khalkho and two Ratu residents Abhijeet Kumar and Vinod Kumar. A country-made pistol, telescopic sporting rifle, a revolver, pump action shotgun and a Fortuner vehicle used in the murder were recovered from their possession after they confessed their crime and gave confessional statements to the police.
Munda was shot dead on July 26 near Daladili Chowk under the Nagari police station area. The incident rocked the state capital. When the case was probed it came to the fore that a dispute over sale of 119-decimal plot was the reason behind the killing and the chief conspirator Khalkho, was Munda’s close friend.
