Ranchi, June 14: Nawab Chishti, a social activist, was arrested by the Ranchi police. Officials from the Doranda police station apprehended him two days ago after learning that he had posted offensive material on social media and attempted to provoke violence in the city.

During the inquiry, police discovered CCTV evidence indicating that Nawab Chishti was at Doranda Rajendra Chowk as the miscreants were heading to Main Road from the Doranda area.

After checking his record, the police discovered that he had previously been imprisoned for inciting riots, and they decided to arrest him. An FIR was filed against him at the Doranda police station area before he was detained.

On charges of inciting riots, the accused was arrested and taken to the Doranda and Hindpiri police stations. According to a police official, the accused has revealed to authorities that he sends offensive messages on social media in order to incite religious fervour.
