Ranchi, Nov 1: Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport has come second in terms of passenger movement and flight among 69 domestic airports across the country. Leh’s airport is at first and Raipur airport is in third place. According to the report of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), 13,3841 passengers traveled from Birsa Munda Airport only in September 2021. The number of passengers in September 2020, was 10,1213.
Despite restrictions and a reduction in flights during the second wave of Corona, 63,0067 people arrived and departed from Ranchi in a period of six months between April to September this year. This number was 31,8478 in September, 2020. That is, the number of passengers increased by almost double (97.8%).
The number of flights from Ranchi Airport to big cities has also increased. In September 2021 alone, 1253 flights departed from Ranchi. In September 2020, this number was only 679. That is, there is an increase of 85.5%.
With the increase in air connectivity of big cities from Ranchi, the number of passengers has increased tremendously. According to Ranchi Airport Authority, 30 aircraft are flying daily. They are flying to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow and Patna.
