Ranchi, Oct 21: Sadar Hospital in Ranchi is gaining recognition every day in the field of laparoscopic surgery.

This reflected today after a doctor of the Department of Anesthesia of Sadar Hospital, Dr Deepak, also got his brother’s laparoscopic gallbladder surgery done by surgeon Dr Ajit Kumar in Sadar Hospital unlike the majority of doctors who prefer sending their patients outside the state due to their suspicion on the quality of health service in the state.

Earlier in the same week, an office-bearer of the Sadar Hospital office (District Accounts Manager Tara Pad) also got his mother-in-law’s laparoscopic gallbladder surgery done at Sadar Hospital Ranchi itself by the same doctor.

Dr Kumar, who carried out the surgery, confirmed the situation saying in the first month only a few cases were done by laparoscopic method and now the number is increasing. He said he is getting support from the entire Sadar Hospital team.

“Today, during the operation of Dr Deepak’s brother, all three doctors of Sadar Hospital including Dr Deepak Kumar, Doctor Neeraj, Dr Vikas Ballabh were present during the OT. Sister Savita, Poonam, Nandini, Pranav, Nand Kishore Gokhale and Madhav Bando among others were present in today’s operation as key aides,” Dr Kumar said.

“Other than Dr Deepak’s brother, another patient was also operated on laparoscopic method free of cost, as well as two hernia patients were also operated on by our team at Sadar Hospital today,” Dr Kumar said.

A retired geologist of the Geological Survey of India said now-a-day Sadar Hospital in Ranchi is doing well. “It is better than the majority of private hospitals across Jharkhand. You will get at least one properly qualified doctor with a team present here around the clock to provide free and quality treatment to patients unlike many private hospitals where patients are treated like milch cows and where getting a qualified doctor on time depends on the luck of patients,” he said.

An NGO worker supported the geologist saying if Sadar Hospital across the state will start working properly and is properly strengthened with medical and para-medical staff besides other allied facilities it will be of great help for common people whose condition becomes miserable spending exorbitant fee on medical advice, pathological examination and medicine in a private hospital.
