The bodies of Savita Rani Hembram (36), her mother Lakhiya Murmu (60), and Savita’s daughter Geeta Hembram (13) were recovered by police from the Golmuri Police Line flat at 9 p.m. on the night of July 21, 2022. All the three were attacked and killed with sharp weapons.
Kailash Hembram, Savita’s husband, was killed by militants at the Jaduguda fair 14 years ago. Savita got a job on compassion grounds. Savita was assigned to the SSP’s complaint cell. An SIT was formed after a case was registered at Golmuri police station under the leadership of then-Jamshedpur ASP Sudhanshu Jain. The case was being monitored by the then-city SP, Vijay Shankar, while the CCR DSP, headquarter (II) DSP, and several police station in-charges were appointed.
Investigation revealed that female clerk Savita Mahato, her daughter Geeta and mother Lakhia Murmu were killed by gear levers. Savita’s close constable driver friend Sonari Kagalnagar resident Ram Chandra Singh Jamuda had committed the murder.
The investigation revealed that Jamuda committed the murder as he suspected Savita of being befriended with someone else and meets him regularly. Jamuda’s first target was Savita’s friend, but on the night of July 19, when he went to the flat located on the police line, he launched an attack after a heated argument on some matter. In the attack he killed three and then escaped locking the house from outside.
