Ranchi University pays Rs 1.38 cr under orders by Lok Adalat

Ranchi, May 14: A total of eight cases of the Ranchi University were settled by the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday. As per the orders, a total of Rs 1,38,55,830 (Rupees one crore thirty eight lakh fifty five thousand eight hundred and thirty) was paid by the RU.

The payment of all the litigants was completed by the advocate Amit Kumar Sinha representing Ranchi University.

The first case was Jayanti Dutta Vs. State of Jharkhand PPK College, Bundu regarding arrear of salary, and as per the Lok Adalat the arrear salary under fifth and sixth pay revision; a total of Rs. 70,56,849 after deduction PF & IT was to be paid. A net payable amount of Rs 40,22,404 was paid on May 13.

In case of Ram Kumar Sahu Vs. State of Jharkhand Mandar College, regarding arrear of salary, a total arrear salary under fifth and sixth pay of Rs. 67,98,981 was to be given, however, after IT and PF deduction net payable of Rs 42,69,667 was paid on May 13 to petitioner.

Another case of KCB College, Bero of Sat Narayan Singh Vs State Of Jharkhand & others was brought in the court where an arrear was to be paid to the petitioner. A reasoned order was passed to pay the petitioner as per the fifth revised pay scale by the Director of HTE department within the next ten days. Notably, the current salary was regularly paid to the petitioner. However, the proposal of pay fixation was rejected.

The court further approved of pay fixation in case of Mandar College Suresh Kumar Singh vs. State of Jharkhand, along with pay fixation in a similar case of Rajesh Kumar Manjhi vs. State of Jharkhand PPK College, Bundu. Here, however, once again the proposal of pay fixation was rejected.

In case of pay fixation of Abdul Qayum Ansari vs. State of Jharkhand Mandar College, Mandar, the pay was fixed as per the fifth revised pay scale by the Director of HTE department. Here it was mentioned that the current salary was regularly paid. However, the university was instructed to pay the arrear to the petitioner within ten days.

In case of Mahfooj alam ansari Vs State of Jharkhand & another case of Chandra Mohan Mahto vs State of Jharkhand PPK College, Bundu PPK College, Bundu, the High court directed to pay arrear of salary within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Kamini Kumar, Registrar Dr. Mukund Chandra Mehta and in-charge Law Cell Dr Bachcha Ram Jha were appreciated by the High Court judges on the occasion.
