Dhanbad, Feb 1: Bike-born unidentified criminals shot at recovery agent Upendra Singh at PK Roy Memorial College under Saraidhela police station in the early morning today.
He was duly admitted at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad where having seen a critical condition, doctors referred him to a super speciality hospital for better treatment.
The sources in the hospital said that he was brought dead but on the directive of the police officer he was referred to Durgapur Mission Hospital to avoid public protest against the incident. Family members immediately took him away from the medical college hospital.
Saraidhela police station officer in charge Jitendra Kumar said that incident happened around 8 am. Upendra Singh had gone to college by bike to drop off his son. While returning to the campus, two bike-borne criminals shot him and fled away. Upendra Singh fell on the ground and people admitted him at SNMMCH.
Deputy superintendent of police Arvind Kumar Vinha ( law and order) also reached the spot and Saraidhela police station and began the initial investigation of the incident. “Only after investigation we will be able to make comment,” said DSP.
Upender Singh had professional enmity with several people and had been attacked several times in past.
The incident has rocked the Dhanbad administration as yesterday bullet-ridden body of stone trader Ashok Gope was found in a village under the kalubathan police station
