Dhanbad: In view of an alert for heavy rainfall, all government and private schools in Dhanbad district from KG to Class 8 will remain closed today. The decision was announced through an official press release by Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan, citing red zone classification for the district by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Precautionary closure amid IMD warning

The IMD has predicted intense rainfall activity across Dhanbad on June 18, prompting the district administration to take preventive measures. Schools affected include all government, private, aided, and minority institutions up to the 8th grade. The DC has instructed all school administrations to strictly adhere to the closure order.

Legal warning for violations

Authorities have warned that any violation of the directive will attract action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The administration’s swift response reflects growing concerns over the safety of children, especially in areas prone to waterlogging and lightning incidents during the monsoon season.
