Jamshedpur, June 7: The regular service of 12841 Shalimar-MGR Chennai Central Coromandel Express will resume from today, June 7.
The train will leave Shalimar at 3.20 pm as per its scheduled time.
After the tragic train mishap on June 2 that resulted in the loss of at least 275 lives and left over 1000 people injured, the services of the ill-fated Coromandel Express were suspended.
“The train is ready to resume its services from Wednesday,” said a public relations officer at South Eastern Railway.
The unfortunate accident took place when the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express collided with a stationary freight train, causing several coaches to derail onto the adjacent track near Bahanaga Station in Balasore on June 2.
Around 12 coaches of Coromandel Express derailed and ‘infringed’ into the opposite track.
The Howrah Express, travelling from Yesvantpur to Howrah, collided with the affected carriages at high speed, resulting in further derailment.
