RIMS Dental Institute gets recognition from Govt of India

Dhanbad, March 16: The Government of India has recognized Dental Institute of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi on the recommendation of Dental Council of India (DCI).

The team of DCI had inspected Dental Institute RIMS Ranchi on December 8 last year.

Jharkhand State Dental Council (JSDC) chairman Dr Vivek Kumar giving this information said that on the basis of  December 8  inspection, the executive committee of Dental Council of India at its meeting  in Kolkata on December  24 had recommended  to the government of India for giving recognition to Ranchi Dental Institute.

“On the basis of DCI recommendation, the government of India has  given 50 seats permission to Jharkhand government’s lone Dental Institute RIMS.  Credit of this achievement goes to health minister Banna Gupta and additional chief secretary (ACS) health Arun Kumar Singh,” said Dr Vivek Kumar, who is also executive member of Dental Council of India.

The Jharkhand government had applied for 50 seats’ permission. The inspection team returned satisfied during  spot inspection of the institute.
The JSDC chairman said that after this recognition the number of seats could be increased to 100 seats if the state government wants so.

Dr Vivek Kumar, who has the credit of connecting 316 dental colleges across the country with the biometric attendance system, had carried out a campaign for the last one year for getting recognition to the RIMS Dental Institute.

“Now we would focus on getting permission for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course so that students of the state do not require to go out of Jharkhand for higher education in dental field,” said Dr Kumar.
