Ranchi, Oct.5: At the time when the price of developed areas is increasing every day in the Jharkhand capital and precious land is being sold by auctioning process, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the only state-run super specialty hospital is least bothered about the space it has and not showing any interest in ensuring its optimum use.
A rough survey of the RIMS campus suggested that shades adjacent to the old trauma centre are being used to keep old ambulances while new vehicles including six Shav Vahan, two cardiac ambulances, and blood collection buses are left rotting in the open space of the new trauma centre.
A RIMS insider supported the observation saying there are two garages adjacent to RIMS emergency to keep ambulances but they are lying unused.
“The garages remained in the possession of Dawai Dost for many years. It was being used to sell generic medicines. Presently it is closed. Neither is it being used as a medical store nor as a garage,” the insider said.
Another insider said: “Cardiac ambulances come out only when an assembly session takes place.”
RIMS spokesperson D.P. Sinha gives a safe reply when contacted for his comments on the matter.
“Vehicles in running condition are kept outside for quick use. As far as the use of the garage where Dawai Dost was running will again come in use after it is given to run Jan Aushadi Kendra,” he said.
