Paarl, Jan 21: The 2nd ODI match between South Africa and India will be played on Friday at Boland Park.
South Africa and India have only played one match so far in this three-match one-day international series, with South Africa winning that match and leading the series 1-0.
After losing the first game by 31 runs, the KL Rahul-led team will be in a do-or-die situation and must leave no stone left to win. The hosts, on the other hand, want to close the deal.
It’s worth noting that India lost the previous Test series and is hoping for a different outcome in the ODI leg. Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen, both captains of the Proteas, smashed hundreds in the previous match and will aim to repeat their feats. India, on the other side, must overcome its middle-order difficulties in order to tie the series at 1-1.
South Africa defeated India by 31 runs in the first one-day international. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat in the match. South Africa batted first and scored 296 runs for the loss of four wickets, with Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma scoring 129 and 110 runs respectively. For the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets.
In the chase, India fell short of the goal, scoring 265 runs for the cost of eight wickets. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli hammered 79 and 51 runs for the team, respectively. Shardul Thakur also scored 50 runs for the team. South Africa’s Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi each take two wickets.
Rassie van der Dussen was named player of the match for his outstanding batting performance (129 runs).
The Boland Park surface is a batting-friendly pitch, and it is expected to help the batters once more here. Swing bowlers will benefit from the surface in the second half, while spinners will be key in the middle overs.
