Jamshedpur, April 13: An unidentified body of a 30-year-old youth was found anchored along the Ghajia barrage in Kharkai river under Gamharia thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 15 kms away from the heart of the steel city on Wednesday morning.

Apparently, this is a case of murder as there were marks of a deep cut on the wrist of both of his hands.

The deceased was fair-complexioned and appeared to be from a well-to-family, and was suspected to have been murdered somewhere else before the body was dumped in the barrage sometime in the night.

On coming to know about the body in the barrage, the police recovered it and kept it at the scene for about two hours making an abortive attempt to get it identified. As no one identified the body, the police shifted it to Seraikela Sadar Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

“This is a case of murder as the wrists of the youth were found slit. The assailants had dumped the body in the barrage having murdered the youth somewhere else, ” said Gamharia thana OC, Rajesh Singh.

The OC said the wrists of both the hands were found slit apparently with shaving blades.

“We will be able to detect the case only after getting the body identified. We are, therefore, trying to get it identified by putting the image of youth’s body in the public domain, ” Singh pointed out.

The OC said the body will be kept at the Seraikela Sadar Hospital mortuary for the next 72 hours for identification before getting it disposed off if it remains unclaimed.
