Ranchi, Oct 2: CM Hemant Soren stressed preserving and developing Sarvodaya Ashram at Tiril as a tourism and research centre that will open up new avenues of employment for the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Hemant Soren garlanded the statue of the Father of the Nation at Sarvodaya Ashram in Tiril.
Soren said that today is a day of coincidence and good fortune that we all are celebrating the birth anniversary of two great personalities of the country, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister of the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri.
“Both these great men had dedicated their whole lives to the freedom of the country and showed a direction to the people of the country by which the values of humanity and democracy could be strengthened,” he further said.

On the occasion, the Governor said that today is the birth anniversary of two great personalities of the country, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister of the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri. These two great personalities had given a new direction to the country.
He further said that Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri did the work of awakening the spirit of service towards the country among the countrymen.
“Today the whole world is suffering from the scourge of terrorism, but people need to understand that there is no place for violence in the interest of the country and society,” he further added.
Tiril Ashram was established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1928 along with Dr Rajendra Prasad and it became the centre of freedom fighters. Its historicity will help today’s generation to understand the cooperation of Jharkhand in the freedom movement of the country. Even today the charkha used by Mahatma Gandhi is present in this ashram. The huge courtyard of the Tiril Ashram and the statue of Gandhiji welcomes the common people.
