Jamshedpur, Sept 24: Private and government schools in Jamshedpur reopened for students of class VI to VIII on Friday, after 18 months.
Classes were conducted between 8 am and 12 noon following the government guidelines on Covid. There were no tiffin breaks.
Education department officials said most schools re-opened today while a few had resumed classes for Std VI to VIII from Tuesday.
The students were allowed into the classrooms, which were properly sanitised, only after they produced the consent of their parents.
A buzz of activity prevailed in the school campuses which was lacking ever since the Covid-19 induced pandemic last year.
Classes were held only for four hours. Some of the private English ICSE schools used thermal scanner while allowing the students to enter the campus.
Face masks were a must apart from social distancing. Only one student was allowed in one bench.
According to government guidelines, schools have been allowed to conduct offline classes for Classes between six and eight. Incidentally, classes nine, 10 and 11 are already having offline classes since August this year.
It was also mandatory for teaching and non-teaching staff to get at least a single dose of vaccination.
There are over 100 private and government schools in Jamshedpur city.
