Second batch of two children from Jharkhand leaves for heart surgery at Chhattisgarh hospital

Jamshedpur, Sept 21: The second batch of two children left for Raipur in Chhattisgarh from steel city Jamshedpur by a 108 ambulance provided by the state government on Tuesday.

The children will be operated on for heart ailments free of cost at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Child Heart Care Centre.

The children – Mahima Kumari of 14 years hailing from Morhabadi in Ranchi and two-year old Anuj Karma from Nimdih block of West Singhbhum left for the hospital alongwith their parents.

The two children who were sent last month were successfully operated upon and discharged.

The 108 ambulance will drop the two children. Abhishek Milton, a representative of 108 Ambulance said so far during the past two years they ferried about 50 children hailing from various districts of Jharkhand suffering from cardiac ailments for surgery at the Raipur-based hospital.

The ceremonial flagging off of the ambulance carrying the two children from here to the Raipur-based hospital was done by  Dr. Maheshwar Prasad, former civil surgeon of East Singhbhum.

Officials of Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini Team including Babulal Singh, Manoj Kumar, Praduman and Rajesh  Kumar were also present on the occasion.

Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini, a social outfit takes care of all expenses.

The children were selected for surgery of their heart ailments through telemedicine.

The initiative was the brainchild of the former civil surgeon of East Singhbhum Dr Maheshwar Prasad.

It was due to his efforts a telemedicine centre was set up on the premises of Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal, in the outskirts of Jamshedpur.

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust provided lunch and dinner packets and also dry food for the comfortable journey of the children.

” Once they reach Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani, Hospital we will take care of their stay and other requirements free of cost, ” said Babulal Singh of Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini Trust.

Former civil surgeon Dr Maheshwar Prasad thanked the Raipur-based hospital for carrying out the surgeries on children.

He also thanked the Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini Trust and 108 Ambulance for extending support for a good cause.

” After surgery, the children will get a new lease of life. Their life expectancy will increase and they can lead a normal life,” said Dr Prasad.
