Mumbai: Fresh forensic findings have added a chilling new dimension to the Lohagad Fort murder case, with police revealing that accused Siya Goyal made a secret call to her lover and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary just 34 minutes before allegedly pushing her fiance Ketan Agarwal, 25, off the cliff on June 18.
Secret Call Treated as Final Green Signal for Murder
The call detail records, uncovered by the technical surveillance team of Pune Rural Police, are being treated as the most significant digital evidence of a conspiracy. Police believe Goyal used the call to share her precise location at a viewpoint in the fort with Chaudhary and to confirm that no other tourists were present in the vicinity, effectively giving the final go-ahead for the killing.
Three Months of Chats Deleted to Cover Tracks
Sources revealed that the accused systematically deleted their WhatsApp and Instagram chats and voice notes spanning over three months to prevent police from uncovering the murder planning. The police cyber wing is now working with forensic experts to recover the deleted data and is cross-referencing it with location logs and internet IP addresses from the time of the final call, with the aim of presenting irrefutable evidence of pre-planned murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
Murder Plan Finalised in May, First Attempt on June 14
According to sources, the murder plan was finalised as early as the end of May. Goyal first attempted to push Ketan off the cliff on June 14, but he survived by grabbing onto a bush on the cliffside. Goyal then fabricated a snake sighting story to explain the incident. On the second attempt on June 18, Chaudhary followed them to the fort to ensure Ketan could not escape.
How Siya Met Chetan
Goyal’s brother told police that his sister first met Chetan Chaudhary at cricket matches and the two grew closer over time after reconnecting through a common friend.
