Mumbai, July 4: After the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena formed an unusual coalition to form the state’s administration, outwitting the BJP, which had won the most votes overall. Since then, a number of saffron party officials have predicted that the three-party alliance will fall within a short period of time.
NCP leader Sharad Pawar has now predicted that mid-term elections in Maharashtra are likely since the Eknath Shinde-BJP coalition will lose support during the next six months. He said that during a gathering of NCP MLAs and senior party leaders on Sunday night in Mumbai.
“The newly formed government in Maharashtra may fall in the next six months, hence all should be ready for mid-term polls,” Pawar reportedly said, according to an NCP leader who spoke to PTI.
The NCP representative continued by claiming that Pawar had informed them that the Shiv Sena dissident MLAs who were backing Eknath Shinde were dissatisfied with the situation.
Sharad Pawar expressed optimism that the rebel MLAs will rejoin the party after their “experiment” with the BJP failed, the leader continued.
The NCP legislators should spend more time in their various assembly districts if we only have six months, according to him.
