Hazaribag, Feb 9: A doctor of Sheikh Bhikari medical college and hospital Dr Utkrisht Kant was served a showcause notice today for maintaining a negligent attitude in the treatment of school students who sustained injuries in a road accident while going to school this morning.
A total of nine students were going to their school Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Kumhartoli when a truck hit their auto rickshaw.
Sources said students sustained injuries when a truck hit their auto near Mahavir Sthan Chowk. The local residents rushed to help children who got trapped in an overturned auto.
The three injured children were rushed to the hospital with residents informed Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal who directed his media in charge Ranjan Choudhary to ensure proper treatment.
However, as Choudhary reached there, he found no doctors to provide treatment to the injured children. He informed Jaiswal who talked to hospital superintendent Dr Vinod Kumar expressing his anger.
Kumar came into action and sent Dr O.P Srivastava, Dr Abhishek and Dr Shweta Lal to the hospital to provide treatment to the children. One of them, a girl, had sustained grievous injuries and was sent for a CT scan.
Notably, the children are now out of danger. Medical Superintendent Dr Kumar issued showcause to Dr Utkrisht Kant for remaining away from duty. He was asked to reply within two days or face the consequences.
Jaiswal said this is sheer negligence by a doctor.
“Health facilities are deteriorating in this state with every passing day,” he said.
