Ranchi, Sept.11: As many as six, including an executive engineer of the water resource department, were found guilty of renovating a canal in violation of specified standards at Kanchi river in Sonahatu, which is hardly 30 km from the Jharkhand capital.
The executive engineer who was found guilty is Shyam Babu Das while others include Nirmal Kumar Sandil (assistant engineer), Sanjay Kumar (junior engineer), Krishna Mohan Singh Munda (junior engineer), Asish Ram (junior engineer) and Sukra Munda (junior engineer).
Department proceedings have been started against the last four after charges were framed against them while the process is on to frame charges against the first two involved in irregularities, an official said.
“Tamar MLA Vikas Munda had informed about the irregularities started during the BJP government being done with the connivance of contractors and government officials. The project, which is yet to be completed, involves Rs 26.78 crore from the state exchequer. During the departmental inquiry it was found that construction work was being done after reducing the thickness of lining specified for the work,” the official added.
Contacted engineer in chief of the department Nagesh Mishra for his comment, he expressed his ignorance in the matter.
