Jamshedpur, May 29: In a breakthrough against thefts, police arrested six persons, including two minors for their indulgence in thefts and burglary in Telco thana area of the steel city.

Those arrested would run a gang and had decamped with ornaments by breaking into a jewellery shop at Kharangajhar market in Telco beside committing thefts at other places under Telco thana area during the past four weeks.

Revealing about the breakthrough, additional SP (City), Sumeet Agarwal said that the criminals had first burgled into the jewellery shop at Kharangajhar on May 6, leading the shop owner to lodge an FIR against unknown.

“After the jewellery shop burglary, we got complaints about thefts at a house in River View Colony and Jemco both under the Telco thana area. Then only we realised that a gang of thieves must be active in the area and set up a team to detect the gang, ” said Agarwal while talking to newsmen.

The ASP (City) said during investigation a minor was caught moving in a suspicious way in Kharangajhar market area.

“On being interrogated, the minor spilled the beans about the gang, leading the police team to reach out to the remaining five members one after another. The police team subsequently recovered the jewelleries burgled from the jewellery shop and also LED TV set and a truck battery from those arrested, ” stated the senior police officer.

The arrested persons identified as Arun Karmakar, Laden Karmakar, Abhishek Randi and Chhotu Singh were sent to jail after their production before a judicial magistrate and the two minors to Remand Home.
