India defeated Netherlands by 95 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup, with Smriti Mandhana scoring a brilliant 74 to script multiple historic records. India posted 209 for 5 in 20 overs, their highest ever score in Women’s T20 World Cup history and their first ever 200-plus total in the tournament.
Mandhana’s Historic Records
Mandhana became the first batter in the history of men’s or women’s T20 international cricket to complete 600 fours, reaching 603 boundaries after hitting 11 fours against Netherlands. New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is second on the list with 521 fours. Mandhana also surpassed Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj to become the Indian batter with the most half-centuries in Women’s T20 World Cup history, going past their record of five fifties each.
Deepti Sharma Equals Jhulan’s Record
In another landmark moment, all-rounder Deepti Sharma reached 355 wickets in international cricket, equalling the record of former India pacer Jhulan Goswami for the most international wickets by an Indian woman.
India’s Highest T20 World Cup Score
India’s previous best in the Women’s T20 World Cup was 194 for 5 against New Zealand in the 2018 edition. The 209 against Netherlands is now their biggest total in the tournament’s history.
