Dhanbad Aug 3: The para medical students of Shahid Nimal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad today sent a memorandum to the additional chief secretary (ACS) health for allotting them hostel.
They, in their joint representation to the ACS health, has asked that their hostel was completed two years ago. Still the SNMMCH authority has not allotted them so far, they added.
“We have been living in a rented house for the last two years out of campus on heavy cost. Some of us belong to poor families and do not afford to live in for long time in such a costly rented room. Moreover, now new batch of Para medical students would come soon, they too would have to face a similar position. So, when the hostel is already prepared , it should be allotted sooner than later,” said the memorandum.
Raju Mahto, secretary of the Jharkhand Para Medical Staff Association, said that they gave the representation to the SNMMCH authorities, concerned officers of the district administration several times in the last two months. But when they did not take cognizance of their plight, they are compelled to write to the ACS health.
Raju Mahto alleged that Para medical students of dialysis and ECG department are not being given scholarship for which they are eligible. .
However, SNMMCH Para Medical course in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar, when contacted, said that the hostel building is of course completed but the agency has not handed over the same to the college so far. “The hostel room would be allotted to students duly after taking over from the agency,” he said.
Dr Kumar said as per Para Medical guidelines scholarship has to be given to students of two years course only, one-year course students are not entitled for the same. So, some students are not been given the scholarship, he added.
