Lucknow, Feb 3: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, Samajwadi Party on Thrusday writes to Election Commission of India, requesting it to issue instructions to CM Yogi Adityanath to use the language in accordance of the Model Code of Conduct.

According to the letter, the accusing party emphasised the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s warning that a “bulldozer will act against unsocial elements and mafia after 10 March,” when the UP election results are announced.

During campaigning, CM Yogi allegedly referred to the party as “goons,” “ruffians,” and “mafia,” and his language did not fall into the category of moderate, dignified, and courteous speech, according to SP.

On 1 February in Meerut, CM Adityanath likened SP’s electoral emblem, the “red cap,” to that worn by rioters and history-sheeters, according to the letter.

In Kairana and Muzaffarnagar, the party accused the CM of using unparliamentary language when he declared, “I know how to handle the Opposition’s heat.”

Notably, from the 10th of February to the 7th of March, elections will be held in 403 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, a politically crucial state. On the 10th of March, the votes will be counted.
