Ranchi, Aug. 2: Jharkhand assembly speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto suspended four BJP legislators till the last day of the ongoing Monsoon session of the assembly for their unruly behavior. The session will conclude on Thursday.
The four include Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Randhir Prasad Singh, Dhullu Mahto and Jaiprakash Bhai Patel.
The situation came after the legislators on the third day of the monsoon session created ruckus in the house and reached near the well clapping their hands as discussion on the pitiable condition of Harmu rivulet in the state capital was going on. Senior legislator Saryu Roy was demanding to constitute an assembly committee to visit the river to have first hand information of the water source.
The BJP legislators were accusing the Hemant Soren government of looting coal and sand. MLA Biranchi Narayan was heard expressing concern over the Chief Minister’s representative going to jail. He demanded clarification from the chief minister Soren in the matter in the house or tender his resignation.
Before Speaker Mahto gave suspension order he asked the legislators to return to their seats and maintain the dignity of the house but the BJP legislators did not obey him.
After the BJP legislators were suspended, the speaker adjourned the house till 12.30pm.
