State FIDE Chess: Bhudeo, Rohan, Alka on top after second round

Ranchi, June 30: Veteran player Bhudeo Tripathi of Ranchi, title favourite  Rohan Shandilya and Alka Das of Jamshedpur performing as per their reputation joined in the race with two successive victories in two rounds of the Aditya Birla Memorial 22nd  Jharkhand  FIDE rating chess championship which began at Sarla Birla University.

Besides them, Priyanka Kumari of West Singhbhum, Sikandar Anish of Bokaro, Saikat Dutta of West Singhbhum also won in the second round. Manideep Mukhi, Manish Sharma of West Singhbhum and Shashank Pandey of Ranchi also got full points.

Bhudeo Tripathi defeated Aryaman Vikram Verma, Priyanka Kumari defeated Shruti Shreya of  Ranchi and Rohan Shandilya beat Biplab Chandra Dalal.  On the other board, Saikat Dutta defeated Nirharika Chakraborty of Ranchi and Alka Das beat Sudhanshu Kumar of Chatra.

Earlier, executive president of the All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA)  Richa Sanchita inaugurated the four-day championship and called upon the players to display their best while maintaining the spirit of the game.

On the occasion, AJCA president Pradip Verma, vice-president Vijay Kumar Singh, joint secretary Dipak Kumar and Sarla Birla Public School principal Paramjit Kaur were also present.

Giving this information, AJCA secretary Manish Kumar said that a total of 163 players from 13 districts are participating in this  FIDE rating championship. Among them, the highest 82 are from Ranchi followed by East Singhbhum  21,  West Singhbhum 15, Hazaribagh 17,  Bokaro 13, Dhanbad seven,  two each from Garhwa and Deoghar and one each from Chatra, Dumka and Ramgarh.
