Puri, Feb 6: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has paid tribute to Bollywood’s evergreen musical empress Lata Mangeshkar on her first death anniversary through his art.
Sand artist Pattnaik has dedicated a six-foot-high sand sculpture with the message ‘Tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Ji, Meri Awaaaz Hi Pehechan Hai’, at Puri beach in Odisha.
Taking to Twitter, Pattnaik wrote, “Remembering Bharat Ratna #LataMangeshkar Ji, the Nightingale of Indian Cinema and legendary singer on Her First Death Anniversary today. My Sand Art with the message ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pehechan Hai’ at Puri beach in Odisha.”

Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on February 6, 2022 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at 92.
Lata, also known as Lata di, was a name that was synonymous with Indian music. The Queen of Melody, who moved the entire nation with her deep influencing voice, was as melodious as a nightingale.
With a career span of almost eight decades, she received awards like Bharat Ratna and Dada Saheb Phalke for her contributions to the Indian music industry.
Taking to social media, several public figures and her fans paid tribute to the Queen of Melody on her death anniversary.
Transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, paid his respects to Lata Mangeshkar. “Greetings to Bharat Ratna winner Lata Mangeshkar ji on her first memorial day,” he tweeted.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also wrote an emotional tribute to the late legend. Sharing a clip of them interacting, he wrote, “Miss you, @mangeshkar Didi. #ImmortalLataDidi.”

Lata Mangeshkar represented an entire era, a movement and a lasting phase in the Indian music space. Her voice was so powerful that it broke down all barriers of language, caste, creed, culture, region and religion.
Best known for haunting, melancholic tracks like `Lag Jaa Gale’, ‘Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho’, ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se’, ‘Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh’, the versatile singer still gave us timeless upbeat tracks like ‘Mere Khwabo Mein Jo Aaye’, ‘Buddha Mil Gaya’, ‘Didi Tera Devar Deewana.’
Her 1987 song ‘Wada Na Tod’ from the film ‘Dil Tujhko Diya’ was included in the 2004 Hollywood film ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’.
