Dhanbad, April 26: The deadline to submit the voters list form of Jharkhand (South Bihar constituency) based Gurudwara members for Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib Prabandhak Committee poll has been extended till April 30.
April 23 was the last date for submitting voters form but keeping the convenience of the Jharkhand Gurudwara members in mind, the general secretary of Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib Prabandhak Committee Sardar Indrajit Singh has issued notice for extending the date till 5 pm April 30.
There are a total of 125 Gurudwaras in Jharkhand (including Sasaram district) that will participate in the election of the Takhat Sri HarimandirJi Prabandhan Committee. The highest number of Gurudwaras are in Jamshedpur 34 followed by Dhanbad- 23, Ranchi- eight, Sasaram-six, Daltonganj -two, Hazaribagh-two, Ramgarh-two, Bokaro-two and one each in other districts.
In the last election in 2018, Sardar Indrajit Singh of Jamshedpur Gurudwara was elected from Jharkhand ( south Bihar constituency) and later he was elected general secretary of Prabandhak Committee.
Though the process of election for one member from Jharkhand ( south Bihar Constituency) has been started, the majority of members of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh Gurudwara have demanded unanimous selection of representatives rather than ballots.
One of the members of Bokaro Gurudwara said that since the election is costly and general members can’t afford to contest as it costs Rs 6 to Rs 7 lakh, a unanimous selection should be held.
“ In 2018 meeting held at Hazaribagh Gurudwara, Sardar Sewa Singh, Dhanbad Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee President and former member of Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib had proposed to elect a representative from Jharkhand Gurudwara on rotation so that unnecessary expenditure on the election could be checked. All members agreed at that meeting”, said the member, requesting not to reveal his name.
If the rotation formula is unanimously accepted, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, President Ranchi Gurudwara, Sardar Sewa Singh, President Dhanbad Gurudwara, Sardar Avtar Singh, President Hazaribagh Gurudwara and Sardar Pramdeep Singh Kalra are in the race for a representative.
