Ranchi, April 29: A fuel tanker exploded in a welding garage on Chuttu Ring Road under BIT OP in Jharkhand capital. The incident left one dead and two injured.
Reasons behind the explosion could not be ascertained so far though locality residents suspect welding spark came in contact with an explosive item inside the tanker.
S.P.(rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the incident but expressed his inability to give any conclusive statement in the matter.
“The reason behind the explosion is being ascertained. A FSL team has been deputed there,” S.P(rural) Naushad said.
One who died in the incident was Sanju Kumar Mallick. The injured include Moinuddin and Manik. Both have been admitted to a private hospital on Ring Road.
Officer-in-charge of BIT OP Sumit Kumar after primary investigation said: “It was tanker to carry oil that it used to clean engine. It was empty. It had come for repairing. By mistake battery of the tanker was wrongly fitted. It caused short circuit and fire took place. The fire started from engine side reach in the tanker. Gas got former in the closed tanker and explosion took place. Had there been oil blast had been more serious.”
OC Kumar said: “Injured who were admitted in a local hospital were taken to RIMS, where they stable.”
