Jamshedpur, June 30: A 42-year-old man Shyamlal Mahto who was admitted to the Tata Main Hospital for the treatment of multiple injuries on June 23, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
A resident of the ECC Flat area in Kadma, Mahto was a Tata Steel employee and was injured after his car which he was driving had rammed into a stationary truck on the Tata-Kandra four-lane under Adityapur thana area on Friday last week.
The victim had gone to attend a marriage ceremony at Kharsawan in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on June 23. While returning home, Mahto had to drop several relatives at their homes on the way and the victim was finally returning home in Kadma around midnight when the mishap took place.
Significantly, as the car hit the stationary truck, the car’s airbag was unfolded timely. But despite the airbag working properly, Mahto had sustained grievous injuries in the head and chest.
The mishap had taken place near DVC Mode on the four-lane around midnight. Soon after the mishap, the victim was rescued from the spot and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital immediately.
Mahto succumbed to his injuries after struggling for his life for the past eight days. The police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.
