Jamshedpur, July 7: As a part of its commitment towards environmental sustainability, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL) celebrated Van Mahotsav by planting trees here.
The Van Mahotsav was held from July 1-7 during which more than 7,000 trees of 25 species were planted in various parts of Jamshedpur, including CRM Bara, Sidhgora City Forest, Kadma Biodiversity Park, City Forest Kadma, Sidhgora Children Park, Agrico Nature Trail and Jubilee Park Road Avenue.
The plantation drive is a part of TSUISL’s broader environmental sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources, and protecting biodiversity.
On the occasion, Chankaya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services, Tata Steel, along with Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL, planted many trees.
Notably, participatee in the event were Raghunath Pandey, President of JSU, Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, Senior General Manager at TSUISL and the senior leadership team of TSUISL, who also planted various species of trees.
Notably, Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival celebrated in India during the month of July.
The festival was initiated in 1950 by the then Union minister for agriculture, Kulapati K. M. Munshi.
The objective of the festival is to increase green cover in the country and raise awareness about the importance of trees and forests in the ecosystem.
