Patna: As the Bihar assembly elections approach, political parties are intensifying their campaigns with bold promises to woo voters. RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has made a significant announcement aimed at women in the state. He promised that if his party comes to power, a new scheme called the “Mai-Bahan Maan Yojana” will be introduced, providing ₹2500 per month to every woman in Bihar.
Tejashwi had earlier vowed to provide 200 units of free electricity to all households if the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) forms the government. However, his promises have drawn sharp criticism from leaders of the ruling NDA, who accused him of misleading the public.
NDA’s Criticism
“Why wasn’t this done during their 15-year rule?” – Vijay Kumar Sinha
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha criticized Tejashwi’s announcement, saying, “If they cared so much about women, why didn’t they implement such schemes during their 15 years in power? This is nothing but an attempt to mislead the people of Bihar.”
“Bihar’s people remember Lalu’s governance” – Samrat Choudhary
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said that the people of Bihar haven’t forgotten the misgovernance during Lalu Yadav’s 15-year rule. “They looted the public, engaged in scams like the ₹950 crore fodder scam, and forced the poor to give up land for government jobs. The people of Bihar won’t allow their return to power.”
“Lalu’s tenure turned Bihar into a nightmare” – Lalan Singh
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh remarked, “Tejashwi’s parents ruled Bihar for 15 years. What schemes did they bring back then? There were no roads, electricity, or law and order during their regime. They turned Bihar into a nightmare, and the people will not forget that.”
“NDA is already working for welfare; Tejashwi doesn’t need to worry” – Santosh Suman
HAM leader and minister Santosh Kumar Suman mocked Tejashwi, saying, “This seems like a promise for 2040. Bihar already has an NDA government that works for everyone’s welfare. Tejashwi doesn’t need to worry about the people; he should focus on his tours instead.”
