New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued an unconditional apology for his controversial comments regarding the bail granted to BRS leader K Kavitha in a money-laundering case.
Reddy’s apology follows a stern reprimand from the Supreme Court, which expressed deep concern over his statements suggesting that Kavitha’s bail was the result of a “deal” between the BRS and the ruling BJP. The court questioned the appropriateness of such remarks from a person holding a constitutional position, emphasizing that such statements could undermine public trust in the judiciary.
In a statement posted on X, Reddy clarified that he holds the Indian judiciary in high esteem and emphasized his commitment to the judicial process. He expressed regret for the comments attributed to him, which he claimed were taken out of context. Reddy affirmed his respect for the judiciary and his belief in the Constitution of India.
Earlier, Reddy had criticized the bail decision following Kavitha’s release from custody in the Delhi liquor policy case. He suggested that the bail was politically motivated due to an alleged deal between BRS and BJP. His remarks were labeled as an attempt to politicize judicial decisions, leading to the Supreme Court’s reprimand.
The controversy highlights ongoing tensions between political leaders and the judiciary, underlining the importance of maintaining mutual respect and upholding the integrity of judicial proceedings.
