Dhanbad, July 18: Thousands of Sindri Township traders and their dependents today gheraoed the administrative building of Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL) Sindri for withdrawal of notice issued under the Public Premises (Eviction and unauthorized occupation) Act.
They assembled before the FCIL administrative building at 10 am and gheraoed the officials for withdrawing the notice and immediate stopping of the PP Act Court proceedings.
After five hours gherao FCIL Estate Officer Devdas Adhikari held talks with the delegation of agitating traders and assured that no further eviction notice would be issued to any trader now. He said that the blueprint for rehabilitating the traders is being prepared. A survey is being conducted to know the exact number of traders residing in the township.
However, the FCIL Estate officer ruled out to stop the PP Act court proceedings and withdraw the notice as it has been given on the directive of the government of India in which the local management can’t interfere.
Notably, FCIL has issued a PP Act notice to the traders of Sindri township and set up a PP Act court for hearing the claims of traders who set up their business establishments on the land of the closed FCIL in an unauthorized manner.
Gaurav Baksha, the leader of the agitating traders, said that all 1019 traders who have been served notice of eviction would file a joint petition for nullification of PP Act Court proceedings.
