Ranchi, Feb 25: A three-day Pulse Polio Eradication Programme campaign will be run from February 27 to March 1.
Under this campaign, 5,09,133 children in the age group of 0 to 5 years will be given polio drops.
Before the campaign, the Civil Surgeon of Ranchi district, Dr. Vinod Kumar said in a press conference that the state-level polio eradication campaign would be started from Sadar Hospital, Ranchi by the Additional Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, Arun Kumar Singh.
Dr. Kumar said that polio has been eradicated from Jharkhand, but there are children infected with polio in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In such a situation, despite the end of polio in India as a precaution, National Immunization Day is celebrated once a year and under this, a polio campaign is run.
“On February 27, polio drops will be administered to the children at the booth. Whereas, from February 28 to March 1, children will be given polio doses by going door to door. We have a sufficient workforce and we are also doing publicity work to make people aware. This time the target has been set to give 100% dose of polio to children,” Dr. Kumar said
On the other hand, District Immunization Officer Dr. Shashi Bhushan Khalkho said that to make the polio campaign a success, publicity is going on by the Health Department. For the success of this campaign, 3858 permanent booths, 211 transit booths, 80 booths for Haat fairs, 56 mobile teams along 14 one-member teams have been formed at the block level in rural areas. In this way, a total of 4219 booths will be operated in the district.
“193 depots have been arranged to maintain the high quality of Pulse Polio medicine. At the same time, 7716 people will go door to door to make the program a success. Whereas 422 people have been arranged for transit, 160 for Haat-Bazar, 112 for the mobile team, and 14 people for one member team. A total of 8662 people have been engaged in the success of this campaign,” Dr. Khalkho said.
