Dhanbad, April 26: Three persons including a 5-year-old girl died as the car in which they were travelling skidded in a ditch on Dhanbad- Giridih road near Gaditundi under Tundi police station, around 33 km away from Dhanbad district headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
Tundi police station officer in-charge Santosh Kumar said two died on the spot in the incident while the third was declared brought dead at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital SNMMCH) Dhanbad. Five people including the driver were in the car.
A Police officer said the incident occurred around 12noon. The deceased woman Payal Chourasia was coming from Shashtri Nagar of Giridih to Jharia Dhanbad by hired Altro car along with her father Saryu (52) Chourasia, two daughters Dipti Kumar (5) and Riya Kumari to attend the marriage ceremony of her brother.
Eyewitnesses said that the car became uncontrolled and skidded off the road. A bike rider also caused an imbalance for the car driver.
Local people and Tundi police brought them out of the car. Saryu Chourasia and Dipti Kumari were found dead on the spot.
Tundi police sent injured Payal, Dipti and the driver of the car Anuel Ansari to Dhanbad medical college hospital but Payal Chourasia succumbed to her injury on the way. The condition of Riya Kumari and driver Aneil is said to be critical.
In protest of the incident, local people blocked the Dhanbad- Giridih main road for hours. However, police officer Santosh Kumar pacified them and got the road cleared. Rohit Chourasia, husband of Payal is a surveyor in a private road construction company.
Saryu Chourasia, a resident of Jharia (Dhanbad) had gone to Giridih to bring his daughter for the marriage of his son scheduled on May 9.
