MANOJ SINHA

Ramgarh, May 8: Three students of the Ramgarh Engineering College died after drowning while taking a bath in a pond near Bokaro main road in Ramgarh district on Sunday morning.

Police sources have said, “All the three students had come down to take a bath in the pond due to heat. All three students could not swim and accidentally drowned in the pond.”

Upon receiving information, the Rajarappa police inspector Bipin Kumar reached the spot and fished out the bodies from the pond. Police have sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital Ramgarh for post-mortem. The deceased have been identified as Rohan Malakar from Katras, Ankit Kumar from Bokaro and Abhishek Kumar from Giridih.

As soon as the news of three students drowning spread, villagers gathered near the pond. The locals tried their best to get the three students out, but it was too late by then. Traffic on the NH also came to a standstill for about half an hour as a result of the crowd.

However, police personnel cleared the traffic after reaching the spot and taking possession of the bodies.
