Jamshedpur, July 27:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of thundershowers and light rain at a few places over Jharkhand today.

Monsoon was still weak over the state and it is expected to revive only after July 28. Weathermen said heavy rain in isolated places is expected later this month.

The weak monsoon has pushed the state’s rain deficit to 48 per cent. Against a normal of 455 mm, the state has so far received 238 mm of rain, a deficit of 48 per cent.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low-pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level still persists.

It is likely to move slowly northwestwards across north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Raisen, Mandla, Durg, the centre of a well-marked low-pressure area over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts and thence east-southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.
