Toddler drowned in a pit in Hazaribag village

Hazaribag, July.8: Two and a half years old Shivraj Ageria, the only son of Manoj Ageria, died on Saturday after drowning in a pit in Mangarpatta village of Tatijharia block. The incident sparked grief in the village with parents and relatives of the boy are in a state of shock. This pit came into existence as villagers are digging the land here for mud for the last few years. Due to rain, the pit got filled with water taking the shape of a pond.

Villagers said Manoj’s house is in front of this pit. Manoj’s wife, mother and daughters were all in the house this afternoon.  But they did not know when and how Shivraj reached there and drowned. When the search started, the body of the child was found floating in the pit. The villagers took the body out of the pit.

Manoj said no one having information as how his only son drowned in this pit.  Out of the four children, Manoj was having a son Shivraj and rest three were daughters.
