Ranchi, Dec 1: Tourism Department of Jharkhand is in action mode to ensure proper security of the tourists visiting the tourist spots across the state.
Apart from ‘paryatak mitra’, the tourism department of the state has chalked out a detailed plan for better security of the tourist and to curb the incidences.
Tourism Director Nitish Kumar Singh informed this saying that the detailed plan is yet to come into the public domain.
“At different picnic spots ‘paryatak mitra,’ people who are local residents of those places only, have been selected. They have been trained for the security of tourists visiting the spot,” Singh said.
Notably, the capital city of Jharkhand, located in Chota Nagpur plateau is amidst some of the best tourist places in the region.
Here are some of the tourist places of Jharkhand that can be visited during the season of the new year:
Jonha Falls

Located at a distance of 42 kms from Ranchi city, this beautiful fall is also known as Gautamdhara as there is a temple dedicated to Lord Buddha in the vicinity. One has to climb down 722 steps to see the beauty of the falling water from the height of 141 ft.
Hundru Falls

One of the highest waterfalls of the state and the 34th highest waterfall in India is located on the edge of the Ranchi Plateau 46 kms from the city. The water falls from a height of 98 metres (322 ft) and to watch the roar of falling water one has to climb down 700 steps.
Dassam Falls

It is a combination of 10 streams falling from the height of 144 ft located at a distance of 42 kms from the city. The falls resemble as if someone is pouring water from the edge of the rocks. Dassam falls is also a major accident-prone area that has a very high current, as a result, many people have lost their lives while swimming or bathing in the pool created by the fall.
Perwaghagh Falls

Located at a distance of 73 kms from the city, it is also known as the ‘House of Pegions’. It is one of the gorgeous waterfalls of the state with a beautiful backdrop surrounded by green forest and blue hills.
Rukka Dam

It was built in 1971 for the purpose of producing electricity but in recent years it has emerged as a famous picnic spot. Located at a distance of 39 kms from the city, this dam is absolutely serene and a treat to the eyes. The dam is surrounded by forests and blue hills which complements its beauty.
Sita Falls

The fall has been named after Goddess Sita from the epic Ramayana. It is believed that during the exile, Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lord Laxman spent a few days near the waterfall. The footprints of the goddess have also been found near the falls where a temple has been established to preserve the sacred region. It is located at a distance of 41 kms from the city.
Patam Falls

The Patam Falls located at a distance of 59 kms from the city is an undiscovered destination in the state. The fall slopes down from a height of 150 ft and lies in the beautiful backdrop amidst the forest and hills.
