Ranchi, Feb 16: The tribals today demanded Sarna religion code in the census for the safety of tribal land, recruitment policy benefiting locals and others at a rally conducted at Prabhat Tara ground in Dhurwa in Jharkhand capital.
They conveyed their alarm over Kudmi’s desire to become tribals and threatened grave consequences if the attempt was successful, stating that bloodshed was unavoidable.
JMM legislators from Bishunpur and Sisai, Chamra Linda and Jiga Susasan Horo, respectively, led the Adivasi Adhikar Rally. Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Tamar, Bundu, Chaibasa, and Santhal Pargana were among the participants.
Both the central and state governments were targeted in the march, and tribal members sought legitimate tribal rights in the state.
