Ramgarh, May 23: A case of deer hunting in the forest came to light on Monday at Bartua forest of Patratu block under Ramgarh district. The team of Patratu Forest Department raided and caught two accused with the mutilated carcass of the deer. The accused have been sent to judicial custody after registering a case under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
Patratu Forest range Officer Arun Kumar Singh said,” On Monday morning, we received the information that preparations are being made to hunt a deer in Bartua. On this, the team of the department under in-charge Santosh Kumar Toppo was instructed to take quick action. The team conducted a raid.,” he said.
He added that upon investigation it was found that the deer was slaughtered in Narayan Singh’s house. During this, Narayan Singh and Ratan Mahto who were present there were arrested.
Singh said that both the arrested accused were into deer hunting. The team has recovered the headless deer’s carcass. The axe and cutting tool, including a bucket and a lota have been recovered from the spot.
